Speers Road RONA Reopens 🛠️

RONA Oakville on Facebook
Oakville’s RONA is back open after nearly a year of renovations, unveiling a fully revamped store on Speers Road.
The upgraded space now features a multi-level layout, refreshed exterior, and a new specialty showroom designed for both homeowners and contractors.
Owner Paul Sharpe says the reopening feels like a championship moment after months of construction using local trades. With expanded tool lines, a stronger Pro selection, and a 40,000 sq. ft. store plus outdoor lumberyard, the focus now shifts to serving the community with a much bigger and better setup.
Youth Week Returns 🎉
The Town of Oakville is gearing up for National Youth Week from May 1-7, with a packed schedule of free events for teens aged 13-17.
Highlights include glow-in-the-dark laser tag at Glen Abbey, youth takeovers at local community centres, sports tournaments, creative workshops, and a week-ending awards ceremony celebrating young leaders.
The lineup also features a mural unveiling, library programs, and a special exhibit at Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate exploring LGBTQ2+ history. With all drop-in programs free during the week, it is a chance for teens across town to try something new without spending a dollar, not a bad way to kick off May.
Mystery Lottery Winner 🎟️
Have you bought a lottery ticket recently? A $125,000 Lottario jackpot-winning ticket sold in Oakville last week is still unclaimed, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
One of two winning tickets came from Oakville, with the other sold in Guelph, but no details have been released about where the tickets were purchased.
If you picked up a Lottario ticket recently, now is a good time to double check it, that winning slip could still be sitting in a wallet waiting to be cashed!

Oakville Rallies To Help Rudy 🐾
A local push is gaining traction as Oakville residents come together online to help find a home for Rudy, an eight-year-old dog who has spent more than 300 days at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society.
The post, recently shared on Reddit, describes Rudy’s affectionate and playful personality, along with his need for an experienced, adult-only home where he can thrive.
Rudy is part of the shelter’s Golden Years program, meaning his adoption fee has been waived due to ongoing medical needs, including daily medication and a specialized diet. Despite that, he is described as active, loving, and always ready for a game of fetch, and now the community is stepping up to help him land the kind of home he has been waiting nearly a year to find.
Oakville Trio Named To Team 🇨🇦
Three Oakville players will suit up for Team Canada at the IIHF U-18 Men’s World Championship, with Dima Zhilkin, Lucas Ambrosio, and Callum Croskery all named to the opening game roster.
The trio travelled to Slovakia last week and will help Canada chase a third straight gold medal at the tournament.
Zhilkin is expected to drive offence after a strong season, while Ambrosio and Croskery will anchor the blue line. With roster spots still not fully locked in, each game will matter as they look to secure their place, a strong start could go a long way, congratulations to all three representing Oakville on the international stage.
