After nearly 11 months of renovations, the Iroquois Ridge pool is officially back open. Construction began in January and included key upgrades to the HVAC system and floor tiling around the pools. Although the project was originally expected to wrap by summer, several delays pushed the reopening to this past Saturday, with even a last-minute one-week delay added just last week.

The Town says staff have worked hard to refresh the facility and welcome swimmers back. With the pool now ready for laps, lessons, and leisure, it’s a much-anticipated return for east Oakville residents.

Holiday cheer is set to return to Hendrie Park as the Royal Botanical Gardens brings back its Winter Wonders event from November 27 to January 4. This year’s edition features festive lights, interactive art by Canadian artists, seasonal music, and a brand-new artisan village with local crafts and gifts.

Family favourites like the RBG Express train and the indoor Botanical Train Display are also returning. Adult tickets are $22, children’s tickets $18, and kids under 2 get in free.

Oakville Fire Department hosted the largest Fire Service Women Ontario Training Symposium in 15 years from October 23-25, drawing over 200 fire professionals from across Canada and the U.S. The event featured hands-on training, classroom sessions, and networking aimed at empowering women and allies in the fire service.

Held in partnership with Fire Service Women Ontario, the symposium showcased Oakville’s commitment to inclusive leadership and professional excellence. A proud moment for the town and a boost to future-ready firefighting.

Oakville native Ethan Belchetz has been selected to represent Team CHL at the CHL-USA Prospects Challenge later this month in Alberta. The event, set for November 25 in Calgary and November 26 in Lethbridge, pits top NHL draft eligible CHL players against the U.S. U-18 National Team.

Belchetz, a standout with the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires, has 24 points in 19 games this season and impressed with Team Canada at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup. He is currently ranked fourth in Sportsnet’s latest draft projections. A big stage awaits.
