Oakville’s Best Brunch? 🍽️

An Oakville favourite is getting national attention. Trattoria Timone has been named to OpenTable’s Top 100 Brunch Spots in Canada for 2026, making it the only Oakville restaurant on this year’s list.
The Italian spot has been a local fixture for more than 40 years and sits in the Entertainment Centrum plaza near the Mississauga border.
OpenTable bases its rankings on diner reviews and overall demand, and that same strong local support helped the Oakville favourite also land on the platform’s 100 Most Popular Restaurants in Canada list in November 2024.
Not bad for a restaurant that, oddly enough, does not even have a dedicated brunch menu.
Burloak Drive 10 Day Closure 🚧

Artist’s rendering of Metrolinx’s planned Burloak Drive rail overpass, part of broader upgrades to support more frequent GO train service.
A stretch of Burloak Drive will fully close for 10 days as part of a major Metrolinx rail upgrade, with work scheduled from May 22 at 12:01am to June 1 at 6am.
The closure runs between the Harvester-Wyecroft area and Prince William Drive, as crews bring new rail tracks into service on a bridge overpass, replacing the old at-grade crossing.
The project aims to improve safety and traffic flow while allowing more frequent GO trains along the Lakeshore West line. Access to nearby plazas and emergency routes will stay open, though drivers should expect detours, noise, and delays.
The timing could overlap with possible Burlington Skyway lane closures, setting up a busy stretch for commuters heading through the Oakville-Burlington border.
132-Home Development Approved 🏗️
Oakville council has now approved the 132-unit subdivision at 1303 Dundas St. W., marking a quick update to the proposal we shared earlier this week.
The north Oakville site, once home to dismantled telecom towers, will see 35 detached homes and 97 townhouses built across 10.47 hectares following the April 20 decision.
The plan includes new roads, a stormwater pond, and protection of a 3.66-hectare natural heritage area near Sixteen Mile Creek. Two additional blocks remain set aside for future mixed-use buildings up to eight storeys, with some flexibility to reach 12 near the pond. A quick turnaround from proposal to approval on a stretch of Dundas that keeps evolving.

Bandology Moves Library To QEPCCC 🎶

Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre
Oakville non-profit Bandology has relocated its Instrument Lending Library to the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre in Bronte, giving students a new, accessible place to borrow instruments.
The move builds on the group’s existing connection to the space, where it has hosted workshops in the past.
The library includes more than 100 donated instruments across woodwind, brass, and percussion families, available for students to borrow for a semester or summer. Backed in part by Ontario Trillium Foundation grants, the program aims to remove financial barriers and keep more local kids involved in music.
Rotary Boosts Student Awards 🎓
Oakville Rotary is increasing its support for local students, raising individual bursaries to $5,000 for 24 graduating Grade 12s.
The total fund now sits at $120,000, up from $100,000 last year, as the group looks to better offset rising tuition and living costs for post-secondary education.
The awards are open to Oakville students from both public and Catholic boards, with applications due May 4 through the Oakville Community Foundation’s portal.
Funding comes from local events like Ribfest and the Golf to Give tournament, continuing a decades-long effort that has supported more than 500 students.
